On their first day at Aegis Park, North Melbourne's six new draftees were handed their playing numbers for 2013 and beyond.

North's number one trade target Ben Jacobs is now number five and has upgraded from 16 at the Power. The number was most notably worn by Jason McCartney and Sid Dyer; the only two players to turn in more than 100 games in the guernsey.

The two Taylor's have numbers right next to each other - Hine with 26 and Garner with 27.

Number 26 has been the domain of the forwards in the last decade, with Ben McKinley, Lachlan Hansen and Sav Rocca the last three to wear it. However it was Peter Bell who donned the jumper during the golden period of the late 90's.

Garner, North Melbourne's first pick in the National Draft, has a number higher than last year's first pick in Brad McKenzie. However he joins some illustrious company, with the likes of Laurie Dwyer, Keith Greig and current assistant coach Darren Crocker all spending the majority of their career in the number.

Continuing on from Hamish McIntosh, former Swan Daniel Currie has been handed the number one guernsey. After wearing the number 10 at Sydney, Currie will hope to play his first senior game in a high profile jumper.

Mason Wood has the chance to make the number 32 his own. Not a single player has played more than 50 games in 32 for more than two decades. However Barry Davis, North's first ever premiership captain, wore 32 on that famous day in 1975.

Rounding out the crop of draftees is Norwood recruit Mitch Wilkins. He takes over the number left vacant by Matt Campbell. Much like Garner, Wilkins has a current assistant coach looking over his shoulder - Brett Allison played in 33 between 1987 and 1999.

Jordan Gysberts will wear number 14, changing from number 5 at Melbourne.
