He may not be in favour at the Kangaroos this week, but big man David Hale could be just the man to get North Ballarat back on the winners list against ladder leaders Williamstown.

It's been an up and down season for Hale. After a strong pre-season, many thought the 25 year-old would be in line for a big tally of goals in 2009, but a combination of his team's disappointing season, inconsistency and the strength of the North Melbourne ruck brigade meant the former first round pick will have to find form at VFL level before being considered for a recall.

In need of some help in attack, the Roosters will welcome the inclusion of another experienced forward to play alongside Josh Smith, Aaron Edwards and Michael Wundke. The four Kangaroos could cause plenty of problems for Williamstown.

Midfielder Marcus White should add some toughness through the midfield as he makes his return from a hamstring injury. The 2008 rookie selection has shown plenty in his 11 VFL games so far this season and could be pushing for a promotion to the North Melbourne list for 2010. After three weeks on the sidelines, the 18 year-old will be desperate to get back out on the field.

Former Norwood player Ed Lower is unlucky not to have been recalled for the Kangaroos clash against Carlton. Three games in a row with over 20 possessions, including 28 last week not enough to earn the number 2 a promotion. Lower will face tough competition through the midfield, with former teammate Ben Davis and Seagulls captain Brett Johnson both in strong form.

Lower will look for support from 2009 Kangaroo debutant Cruize Garlett who, since returning to North Ballarat three weeks ago, has been one of the Roosters best players with 24 possessions last week.

The Roosters have had three straight defeats and now sit third on the table with just five matches remaining They’re just two wins behind Williamstown, but with a game in hand, an upset against the ladder leaders could prove vital in the final run home.

North Melbourne members are reminded that they receive free entry to VFL matches on presentation of their Kangaroos' membership card.
