In preliminary final weekend in the fantasy world, Goldstein’s 19 disposal, 24 hit-out game came at the perfect time. It was the second-highest score among all ruckmen for the weekend.
With one week to go, Goldstein’s season average of 90.2 is shaping to be the second best of his career, only behind his 99.3 in 2011.
Sam Gibson ($355,700) led North in disposals with 28, and it was reflected in a score of 103. The midfielder bounced back from an uncharacteristically quiet score of 45 against Essendon with his fifth century of the season.
In just 67 per cent of game-time, Jack Ziebell ($433,600) collected 27 disposals, laid 4 tackles and kicked two goals on his way to a score of 114, his second-highest for the season.
Oddly enough, Ziebell’s two highest scores for the season have been in narrow losses, a turnaround from previous seasons where it seemed any century score for the vice-captain led to a North victory.
Lachlan Hansen ($381,300) continued to mark everything in sight, taking another 10 on his way to a score of 99. An addition to his game in recent weeks has been his ability to rack up disposals. In five of the last six games, Hansen has had at least 20 possessions, a sure-fire way to guarantee a respectable fantasy score.
Another 27 possessions for Daniel Wells ($419,100) continued his superb run of form and added another 99 points. Despite an interrupted pre-season, Wells is on track to play every game in a season for the first time since 2006, and has posted a career-high for goals in a season with 23 so far.
