North development coach and Werribee midfielder Jarred Moore says Werribee's upcoming game against Sandringham is crucial for several North players eager to redeem themselves after last week's humiliating 83-point loss.

Moore believes the players are desperate to right their wrongs and show significant improvement.

"It was definitely very disappointing (the loss). All credit to Williamstown, but our guys just couldn't get much going at all, all day," Moore told NMFC.com.au.

"We were really shown a lesson in effort and care for your team-mates...we were well beaten and this week's game will be really important for the guys to prove themselves."

The Tigers face Sandringham at Avalon Airport Oval on Saturday and Moore won't be taking any confidence from the 117-point thrashing, last time they met the Seagulls.

"They (Sandringham) didn't have a very strong side in with no St Kilda players at all. We're not going to take much out of that game and we'll focus a little bit more on how they're going now and which likely St Kilda players will be in for them," Moore said.

"Coming off a draw and a tight match last week, they've come into a bit of form. They'll be up and about and looking for their first win and there will be a few good St Kilda players around as well."

Moore has called on the North boys to take their opportunity to stand out in order to gain a senior call-up.

"With Majak playing his first game out of Werribee, Levi (Greenwood) around the mark and Harps (Kieran Harper) coming back in, there's plenty of blokes on the edge of selection and pretty close. They need to keep playing well and keep fronting up each week, doing their job.

"If Werribee are winning, it shows they're playing their role for the team and hopefully there's some opportunity for those guys in the not too distant future."

Kieran Harper, Daniel Currie, Ayden Kennedy, Mason Wood and Tim McGenniss will line up for Werribee with Will Sierakowski a possible inclusion for North Melbourne after being named in the 25-man squad.

After an ankle injury kept him sidelined for the past three weeks, Ben Speight is hoping to return if he passes a final fitness test on Friday.

Coming off an outstanding 85-point win last weekend, North Ballarat will face Essendon on its home turf at Eureka Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Ben Jacobs will be aiming for another stand-out performance after last weeks' 41 possessions and a goal and Tom Curran could have his work cut out for him in the forward line if Aaron Black gets a call up after his five goal hurl against Bendigo. Brad McKenzie is another Rooster who has earned a spot in the Kangaroos 25-man squad and could miss the VFL match tomorrow.

Luke Delaney, Tom Curran, Max Warren and Mitch Wilkins will play for North Ballarat as they hope to get their second win on the board.
Ruckman Ben Mabon will return after serving a one-match VFL suspension last week and Cameron Richardson will come back in after missing due to illness.

First-year player Taylor Garner is in doubt due to an ankle injury.
