Lindsay Thomas has surprised many with his emergence as one of the league’s most potent scorers, but not Daniel Wells who knew the small forward’s hard work would eventually pay off.

“He’s probably had one of the best pre-seasons I’ve seen from a player,” Wells told NMFC.com.au.

“He’s up alongside the Brent Harvey pre-seasons, where they just keep coming every session, they train well and they wanna do well.”

With 21 goals, Thomas is well clear in the race for the Coleman Medal. His consistency has become a feature, with the number 12 booting at least three majors in each of the first five rounds.

“He’s the barometer for us down there (in attack).

“Not just his goal kicking…his pressure and the excitement he brings, he’s turned himself into a really good, consistent player.

“The boys are really enjoying the way he’s going about it.”

Thomas’ accuracy in front of the big sticks has also been a talking point, with some media experts ranking him among the best in the league from set shots.

“There’s no reason he can’t continue it,” Wells added.

“He’s just got to stay level-headed as he is at the moment, and keep working hard. That’s the recipe for him, his work-rate.”
