The club has pushed its status as the AFL’s most accessible and family friendly team using a strong series of impressive images showing star players being supported by loyal fans. The likes of Drew Petrie, Daniel Wells, Andrew Swallow, Jack Ziebell, and Majak Daw appear to be crowd surfing while taking spectacular marks and completing various skills.
The club invited its members to be involved in the new campaign following an open training session at Aegis Park before the end of the 2013 season. It received an overwhelming turnout with hundreds dressing in royal blue and white for the photo shoot.
Petrie was the stand-in model on the day and was hoisted above the adoring fans.
“It was a different experience that’s for sure. We had all the members there reaching out towards me…I sort of felt like some sort of God,” Petrie joked.
“I wasn’t sure how it was going to turn out but they’ve done an amazing job with it and I think the theme really sums up where we are at as a club.
“I had lots of wandering hands all over my legs but it was a lot of fun. It’s great that so many found the time to come down and help out.
“The pictures reinforce that we’re very much appreciative and reliant on the support we get from our fans and without them, we wouldn’t be doing what we do.”
