He may have controversially been overlooked for the VFL’s Liston Medal, but Jarred Moore has romped home to win Werribee’s Bruce Montgomery Trophy; awarded to the club’s best and fairest player.
The North Melbourne development coach polled a remarkable 205 votes to take out the award after a stellar season with the Tigers.
Coach Scott West was full of praise for his efforts.
“Jarred was someone we were keen to get to the club, and he has shown in his contribution on and off the field he was the right choice,” West said.
“On field he leads by example, he reads the play so well and he brings his teammates into the game. He thoroughly deserves this award.”
Moore’s closest rival was North ruckman Daniel Currie who claimed second spot in the count with 121 votes after shouldering much of the ruck duties in his first season with the team.
Moore also took home the MatchWorks Award which is nominated by peers, and recognises players in seniors and development as conducting themselves for the betterment of the team, week in, week out.
