He’s been one of the league’s in-form forwards over the opening two rounds and Lindsay Thomas has gained further recognition after a stunning individual piece of play against the Cats.

The North Melbourne number 12 booted five goals in Sunday’s match, the best of them in the first quarter.

With just 20 seconds remaining and the ball deep in the Kangaroos’ forward line, Thomas ran towards goal with Joel Selwood in pursuit. Unable to gather the loose footy and under immense pressure, he had the presence of mind to go to ground, leave his opponent in his wake, pick the ball up and kick a brilliant goal.
