A bruised heel kept Daniel Currie out of Werribee's Foxtel Cup clash against East Fremantle on Tuesday.

“The heel has been a little bit sore for a week or two, then after the Essendon game I haven’t been able to put much weight on it,” Currie told NMFC.com.au.

“It would have been a good trip to go over to Perth and play with the boys but unfortunately that wasn’t to be."

Currie missed over a month earlier in the season after surgery on his thumb, but he’ll be back a lot quicker this time around; perhaps even as early as Sunday.

“I had a cortisone injection in it today so I’ll have to stay off it for 48 hours and it depends how it feels after it’s taken its course. I’m hoping I can do a bit of the training session on Friday and make myself available to play this weekend,” he added.

“Hopefully I can hit it on the head this week and get on top of it. It’s obviously frustrating but it’s nothing like a season-ending injury I suppose.”
