It was another tough outing for North's Werribee listed players with the Tigers unable to secure a win on Saturday going down to Sandringham by 64-points.

After an encouraging first half, the players slipped away but North development coach John Lamont saw some really good signs from first year rookie Tim McGenniss after 23 disposals, 6 marks and a goal.

"I'll go as far as to say that was probably his best game for the year," Lamont told NMFC.com.au.

"He worked a bit harder and got a better result so he'll end up in the better players this week which is good for him and his development."

Against a strong Sandringham outfit consisting of St Kilda players Jason Blake, Arryn Siposs, Tom Hickey and Farren Ray, there were some solid performances from the Roo listed players but unfortunately not enough over the two halves.

"I thought Daniel Currie's game was good in the ruck with 40 hit outs, 13 disposals and 7 marks. He kept at it, kept competing and pushing forward.

"Jordan Gysberts kicked a goal and was very good in the first half then dropped off a little. 19 of his 25 disposals were in the first half."

Another Kangaroos' youngster, Mason Wood (15 disposals) showed more promising signs of the type of player he is going to become according to Lamont.

"I was really happy with Mason's first half. He was also good early, although he's a forward so was a bit of a victim of the ball not coming in enough.

"We'll build on those things and try work on some of the reasons why he didn't have the same influence in the second half."

Ayden Kennedy (10 disposals and 4 marks) had a tough day in defence working hard to try combat the Zebras' free-flowing attack.

"Ayden copped a heavy knock and that took the edge off him in the second half and the ball was coming into him a fair bit which was difficult but he had some good moments.

"I'm a bit worried about the attitude across the whole group around defending and keeping opponents under pressure."

Two players fighting for their spot back in the Kangaroos' senior side Levi Greenwood (15 disposals) and Kieran Harper (8 disposals) fought on throughout the day but didn't produce the games they would have hoped for.

"Greenwood did some good things in bits and pieces but lacked a bit of consistency. Harper was the same and his pace was good, but we just don't see enough of it yet."

Ben Speight played in the Tigers' development side in his first hit out after an ankle injury.

Liston medal favourite and North development coach Jarred Moore was named amongst the best again today with 24 disposals.
