In Wednesday’s draft flashback, NMFC.com.au mentioned the return on Daniel Pratt’s movement ‘would have to wait a while.’

After initially being drafted by North Melbourne in 2000, Pratt didn’t manage a game in his first stint at the club. Delisted at the end of 2002, he went home to Brisbane and spent the next two years on the Lions’ list.

Then at the end of 2004, Pratt was delisted for the second time in his career. His chances of ever making it as an AFL player looked slim.

However North threw Pratt a lifeline. With pick 74 in the 2004 National Draft, the defender returned to his first AFL club and never looked back.

In the side for the 2005 season opener, he was a big part of the five-game winning streak to start the season. Playing as a back pocket and half-back flanker, he was a key part of the side over the next few years.

A third placing in the 2007 Syd Barker Medal reflected the best individual season of Pratt’s career. He currently is a development coach at West Coast, part of a panel which includes Adam Simpson and Brady Rawlings.
