Magpies to be cloaked
Brad Scott could turn the tables in a bid to gain the upper hand against the Magpies.
Having to minimise the impact of the man who sits second in the Coleman Medal, Travis Cloke, the Kangaroos may have to rely on more than one member of the back six.
“The three key-defenders there will all take their turn on Cloke,” Scott told NMFC.com.au during the club’s open training session on Saturday.
“He’s a terrific player, number one for contested marking in the competition. I know him really well from my assistant coaching days at Collingwood.”

With 61 goals to his name and an average of almost 9 marks, controlling Cloke will be vital. Without Scott Thompson and Nathan Grima, the task becomes even tougher.
“It’s not just his strength; his aerobic capacity is hard to counter. We’re going to have a couple of guys to go through him I’d suggest.”
Much of the key-forward’s supply comes from the likes of Scott Pendlebury, Dane Swan and the returning Dayne Beams. But Scott says he won’t be ignoring the Magpies’ lesser-lights.
“The bottom line is they’ve got a lot of players who are really underrated; (Jarryd) Blair, (Sam) Dwyer, (Josh) Thomas who’s slipped under the radar having 30-possession games,” he added.
“They’ve got a lot of players that need attention, but if Swan, Pendlebury, Beams, Cloke have good days…they are going to be really hard to beat. We’ve got to put a lot of attention into those four.”
