Since his return from pre-season injury, Ben Brown has been steadily growing in confidence at Ardent Street and in the VFL. It was only a matter of time before his name was called out on team selection night for the Kangaroos.

With Robbie Tarrant pulled from the side to play Melbourne on Sunday, Brown who was an emergency, has been tapped on the shoulder as a replacement. While it might not be the conventional way to be selected, Brown will take it.

The forward/ruck prospect's strong marking and athleticism for Werribee has helped the team become a serious contender this year under the tutelage of John Lamont.

Standing at 200cm tall and weighing 98kg, Brown hails from Tasmania and caught the eye of recruiters last years after a solid season for the Tigers. It was North Melbourne though that snared him though, with pick 47 in the 2013 Draft.

At just 21, Brown presents and enormous amount of upside for the Roos and is keen to absorb as much football knowledge as he can.

Immediately identifiable with his huge red afro hair-style, Brown will play the third key forward role and assist Todd Goldstein in the ruck when needed.
