He’s arguably Werribee’s most damaging and consistent player, and now Jarred Moore is its sole captain. At the start of the year, the Tigers had opted for an 11-man leadership group with a rotating match-day leader, but coach John Lamont and the club have swung a late change.

The man affectionately known as ‘Bulldog’ will lead the team for the remainder of the season and hopefully, in the finals.

Moore plays a dual role with the club; not only is he a player (and captain), but he is also a development coach for North Melbourne players.

A former Swan (68 games) and a member of Sydney’s leadership group in 2012 when it won a premiership, Moore arrived at Arden Street the following year to help accelerate the education of the Kangaroos’ youngest players.

Known for his attack on the footy and ability to win the ball in congestion, he won Werribee’s best and fairest award last season and was one of the favourites to take out the VFL’s best player award - the JJ Liston Trophy.

Moore will be under intense pressure as captain of Werribee to guide the side into another finals campaign. It currently sits in seventh positon on the ladder on 36-points, just two-points clear of this week’s opponent Sandringham and a game clear of Geelong which sits in ninth spot.
