Fantasy: Fan team powers up
This weekend our fantasy team was impressive once again, rolling the Power fan team for the second time.
This weekend our fantasy team was impressive once again, rolling the Power fan team for the second time this season.
There weren’t many high scorers for us this week, but that didn’t stop us from amassing 2079 points, the second highest in the league. Brent Harvey and Dustin Martin both scored very well (as those who attended on Sunday night could attest), while Gary Ablett, Dane Swan, Todd Goldstein and Aaron Sandilands all raised the bat. Scott Pendlebury as captain and Ryan Griffen snuck into 100-point territory, while our latest trade-in Claye Beams scored 93 on debut.
Our back-line was quiet, but it’s star studded and we’ll expect improvement this week.
This week’s matchup
We play Adelaide again this week (a six team league means the matchups roll around pretty quickly) with our two encounters so far being decided by 19 points on each occasion – creepy. As it stands, the Round 3 loss is our only blemish for the season, and a win over the Crows will extend our winning streak to 10 straight.
Adelaide sits third on the ladder in this fantasy league, and we have a head to head record of 1-1. They are no slouches, and have a fully upgraded defence and midfield. We’ll have our work cut out for us.
On the block
Leigh Montagna has a four-game average of just 78, while Shaun Higgins has slowed. We could keep these guys however and trade out two youngsters that won’t feature in our best team once upgraded. Luke McDonald has been the perfect cash cow, but after 12 weeks of solid service, it’s time to let him go.
Trade targets
Andrew Swallow is coming in. His second consecutive 100+ score came against the Tigers, and we’re now confident he’ll be able to continue to perform.
Trade 1 will involve bringing in Andrew Swallow for Mitch Hallahan, so our second trade will need to free up $133,000. We can achieve this by trading a cash cow for a cheap player.
Alternatively, we can make a bold move – we could trade Montagna and Higgins, and bring in Andrew Swallow and any number of gun forwards. This would be a double sideways trade, and we don’t often condone those, but we’ll leave the decision up to you.
