Match 3
Lindsay Thomas’ leap (Round 19) v Nick Dal Santo’s smother (Round 6)
It was a briefly terrifying moment which illustrated Thomas’ courage on the field. Approaching a high up and under kick, the Kangaroo ran at full speed before taking off.
However, a stumbling Steve Johnson inadvertently knocked Thomas off balance just as he leapt, forcing the forward to fall and almost land square on his head. Thankfully he was able to bounce back up and play out the game.
North Melbourne’s defeat of Fremantle was full of desperate acts in a high pressure encounter. Dal Santo’s smother of Paul Duffield in the final term was one of the best, preventing the Dockers from going into attack.
Match 4
Ben Cunnington’s casual checkside (Round 21) v Lachlan Hansen’s tackle (Round 4)
Cunnington kicked four last quarter goals against the Western Bulldogs, capped by this checkside. Making it look as easy as a casual kick in the park, the midfielder made no mistake off two steps.
Round 4’s victory against the Swans in the wet saw a number of crunching tackles, with none better than Hansen’s chase-down in the second quarter. Sensing an opportunity to win possession, the defender laid a picture perfect tackle, winning the free kick for holding the ball and setting North on its way forward.
