It was a milestone to remember, as Robbie Tarrant convincingly won his duel with Jeremy Cameron on Sunday.
Tarrant kept last year’s Coleman Medallist to just seven disposals, and had a big impact going the other way.
“Robbie Tarrant is one of the most underrated players in the competition,” media commentator Terry Wallace told SEN.
“If he was playing with a Collingwood or a Richmond, with all the fanfare that they get, he would be so much higher rated in the competition.
“His efforts on Jeremy Cameron yesterday … he only had four kicks for the game Cameron. Tarrant just took him to pieces.
“Who had the most metres gained out of any player on the ground? You’re talking about your (Jared) Polec’s, you’re taking about your (Lachie) Whitfield’s … Robbie Tarrant had the most metres gained in that match.”
Wallace was also full of praise for Luke McDonald, who blanketed dangerous Giants’ forward Toby Greene.
“Lukey McDonald … he kept Greene to four kicks,” Wallace said.
“Going into the game and saying you were going to keep two key players (Cameron and Greene) to four kicks each, between the two of them, you are half way home.”
North went in full of confidence, despite clear underdog status.
“Huge admiration for what they (the Kangaroos) are doing. I think they’ve been the huge winners in the first two rounds,” Wallace added.
“You’ve played two sides who, one will be a finalist in GWS, and a potential finalist in St Kilda and you’ve got two meritorious victories up your sleeve already.”
