Almost a year after rupturing his achilles on debut against Collingwood, Kyron Hayden is set to make his return to football on Sunday.
The 21-year-old has been named among a four-man interchange bench, alongside Jed Anderson, Mason Wood and Bailey Scott.
Hayden is held in high regard at Arden Street, being given a tagging role on Scott Pendlebury in his first AFL game in 2019. He’d kept the Collingwood skipper quiet, before the devastating injury.
Now, after a long wait, he gets another chance to impress.
A Rising Star nominee on debut last year, Scott has been a strong performer during pre-season.
He played four games in 2019, before fracturing a bone in his foot and missing a significant amount of football.
Wood will play a key role alongside the Roos’ main target in attack, Ben Brown, and will look to build on a strong run of form through the middle part of last year.
Likewise Anderson, who is often as the barometer in the midfield, with his fearless approach and unrelenting attack on the ball vital to the Roos’ setup.
