Rookie Draft: Kayne Turner
North Melbourne’s final rookie draft selection has been used on Kayne Turner from the Murray Bushrangers.
Turner qualified for the 2013 draft class by just six-hours and will turn 18 on New Year’s Eve. An inside midfielder, he started the season in the Ovens and Murray League before showing rapid improvement in nine TAC Cup games.

At 180cm and 67kg, Turner can also play as a small forward or defender if required.
Murray Bushrangers’ region manager Andrew Carson recently told AFL.com.au Turner’s competitiveness was unmatched.
"He came in from playing out at Mitta, and came in to Wodonga. We gave him a pre-season and he worked his way onto our list and fought his way into our team," Carson said.
"By the end of the year he was having an impact on the ground wherever he played - as a small defender, a small forward or [rolling] through the midfield.
"Physically there's not much of him and he's only 67 kilos. But he plays with the commitment and attack on the footy as much as anyone going around.
"He's fearless in his approach on the footy and continually puts himself in places where you just hope he's going to be OK."
North Melbourne recruiting manager Bryce Lewis on Turner
"Kayne Turner will be a development player. If he had been born six hours later, he wouldn't have been eligible for the draft.
"He's a slightly built lad, but he's unconditional in his attack on the ball. He's got very good hands, he sees the game well, and he's got a lot of speed as well. We think he can play small back, small forward and even wing."
