While most players have been champing at the bit to get back into games, Flynn Perez has quietly been going about his rehabilitation from a knee injury.
The North draftee is keen to the make the most of every second, despite the difficult circumstances, and says the time in isolation will allow him to return to training fit and firing.
“It’s definitely a positive for me; it gives me a bit of extra time, especially given my age and how risky it is with knees and younger people,” Perez told North Media.
Coming off a knee reconstruction, the 18-year-old is taking an extra cautious approach.
“I was doing pretty much everything (before the season postponement) and was into main training and everything … the knee just didn’t react quite as we’d like,” Perez revealed.
“I just had to pull back a little bit, but I feel fine at the moment and my knee’s been feeling good with the amount of training that I’m doing.”
Perez is back at his family home in Bendigo, while travelling to Melbourne to see the club’s physios on a weekly basis.
“Once we get back into training at the club, I should be pretty close to resume that (full training),” he added.
“It’s just about getting that exposure to footy drills, and hopefully once I tick that off I’ll be back ready to play.”
