There's much debate at the selection table this week as North Melbourne prepare to take on an in-form Port Adelaide.
With injuries to key Kangaroos' Daniel Pratt, Lachie Hansen and Brent Harvey, the door could be open for a new star to emerge and secure their spot in the North Melbourne team.
Today, kangaroos.com.au looks at some of the possible inclusions this week and beyond.
13 - Leigh Adams
Career games: 2
Career goals: 0
Debut: 2007
After a knee reconstruction prematurely ended Adams' 2008 season, the in-and-under midfielder has returned with great conviction in the opening rounds for Werribee.
Adams picked up 20 disposals in both of the first two rounds, before taking another step forward last week and being named in the best, picking up 26 possessions and booting a goal in the third term.

15 - Ben Ross
Career games: 3
Career goals: 2
Debut: 2008
Ross looked the ideal candidate to fill the void left by Matt Campbell through injury, but was overlooked despite some strong performances in the VFL so far this season.
Although still likely to get his chance at some stage in 2009, Ross has gone through a quieter patch for Werribee, averaging just 13 possessions in the last two weeks after amassing 28 in the first round.

17 - Nathan Grima
Career games: 0
Career goals: 0
Debut: Yet to debut
With North Melbourne down another defender due to Daniel Pratt's injury on the weekend, Grima could be handed a dream debut after just three senior games back from a knee injury that ended his 2008 campaign.
The former Central Districts player has excelled at full-back for the Werribee Tigers, shutting down prominent forwards, but also provided plenty of run the other way with his athleticism a strong asset of his game.
Grima was a solid performer for the Tigers in their win over Box Hill, laying six tackles and spoiling the ball on six occasions.

18 - Josh Smith
Career games: 5
Career goals: 0
Debut: 2008
The 2008 VFL Grand Final hero has played three games for North Melbourne so far this season, but was omitted after the Kangaroos' win against Essendon in Round 4.
Smith was encouraging in North Ballarat's win over Collingwood on the weekend, picking up 16 disposals and grabbing six marks.
He could get another opportunity in the coming weeks with North Melbourne having struggled to kick high scores.

22 - Todd Goldstein
Career games: 4
Career goals: 2
Debut: 2008
The 20 year-old broke into the North Melbourne team in Round 2, but with Drew Petrie, David Hale and Hamish McIntosh all developed senior players, he was omitted after the big men struggled in the loss to the Bulldogs.
Has done everything right with Werribee since, averaging 29 hit-outs and 13 disposals over three matches this season.

28 - Matt Riggio
Career games: 9
Career goals: 0
Debut: 2007
A leg injury hampered the pacey midfielder's pre-season, and two weeks ago Riggio was playing with Werribee's reserves - but the 21 year-old has made a terrific return despite limited match practice.
Riggio racked up 22 disposals and four clearances for Werribee on the weekend, and should be in the running for senior selection with some more game time under his belt.

34 - Michael Wundke

Career goals: 0
Debut: Yet to debut
Promoted from the Rookie List at the end of last year, Wundke was one of the stars of North Ballarat's successful campaign in 2008, booting 45 goals.
The strong marking forward kicked four goals last week in North Ballarat's win over Collingwood and was one of the Rooster's best players on the day.

37 - Samuel Wright
Career games: 0
Career goals: 0
Debut: Yet to debut
The Kangaroos' second round selection at the 2008 National Draft, Wright looked to be struggling with the transition to senior football in the opening rounds for Werribee.
But the former Murray Bushranger turned things around on the weekend with an eye catching performance that saw him grab 26 disposals and kick a great goal.
Wright could get his chance in the coming rounds with an ability to play forward, back or through the midfield sure to help the youngster’s chances.
