North Melbourne Director, Brian Walsh, has advised the club he will step down at the end of August after accepting a role to rejoin the AFL.

"On behalf of the Board and wider club, I'd like to thank Brian for his hard work and expertise throughout the past two years," North chairman Ben Buckley said.

"Brian's experience in the media industry and professionalism has been a tremendous asset to North.

"While it's disappointing to lose someone of Brian's calibre, we wish him well at the AFL and know that he will add a tremendous amount upon his return to league headquarters."

Walsh has more than 30 years’ experience working in communications and media, including senior roles at NAB, AFL and Herald Sun.

Most recently, he was the managing director of Bastion Reputation Management; a Melbourne-based corporate communications and issues management company.

Before establishing Bastion RM, Brian was general manager of corporate communications at NAB after a stint at the AFL where he was corporate affairs manager.
