Melbourne has quashed speculation Jeff Garlett could miss Sunday’s clash in Hobart, confirming the forward as a definite starter.

Garlett suffered a “slight roll” of the ankle at training on Wednesday, but Demons’ Elite Performance Manager Dave Misson said he would be available to take on North.

“It’s Wednesday and we play on Sunday and we just want to take every precaution,” Mission told Melbourne’s website.

“Despite reports on AFL.com.au, he (Garlett) will absolutely, definitely play on Sunday and will most probably train on Friday with the group.

“It’s really nothing serious and he’s in no doubt whatsoever.”

Young defender Oscar McDonald has also been given the all-clear for a return from an ankle injury.

“Oscar was touch and go for last weekend,” Misson added.

“We just felt that [being] a young player with a long year [ahead] that we’d give him the weekend to really get it right.

“He trained fully today and did some extra [training], so he’s in no doubt for the weekend.”
