Jed Anderson has described the hectic moments immediately following the postponement of the AFL season.
Barely a few hours after North Melbourne’s Round 1 win over St Kilda, AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan announced games would be pushed back until at least the end of May.
A confronting team meeting followed.
“It was pretty crazy. I came back to the club and they said ‘if you want to go home, get on the next flight, because all the borders are closing’,” Anderson explained in a North Media interview.
“I went home and had a discussion with Nicky (Anderson's wife) about what we’ll do with the family.
“Nicky is due (to have a baby) in May, so we had to make a big decision to be with family or stay in Melbourne and have the baby by ourselves.
“We discussed that and thought Darwin was going to be the best option for us, so we packed up with the two kids and left pretty much Monday night.”
In a wide-ranging chat, Anderson talked about the challenges of training during the Coronavirus pandemic, his unrelenting approach on the field and more.
