Grima: North must 'stick together'
Nathan Grima has described Saturday’s loss to Hawthorn as the ‘worst effort’ from North Melbourne in 'a long time’.
On the receiving end of a 115-point defeat, the Kangaroos slumped to four wins and six losses leading into the bye.
But despite the result, Grima is confident he and his team-mates will become a better side for the experience.
“It was a very disappointing day for the footy club,” he said on Sunday.
“It’s important to stick together. We go into the mid-season break now, so obviously we’ve got to stick tight and bounce back.”
The Hawks, led by Lance Franklin were dominant after quarter-time at Aurora Stadium, and Grima says the mood in the rooms following the match reflected the result.
“Footy is a very emotional game. When you get humiliated like that there’s going to be a lot of emotion in the room and a lot of anger," he added.
"As a playing group we know it’s not good enough.
“As per any game we’ll look at the vision and see what comes out of it. But I’m sure there’s going to be a lot of improvement after an effort like that.”
The bye comes at arguably the perfect time for the Kangaroos, with the chance to re-group heading into the second half of the year.
“It’s going to be a long two weeks, but when we play the Gold Coast we’ve got to come out firing.”
