Shaun Higgins has topped North Melbourne’s voting at the 2019 Brownlow Medal, polling a career-high 18 votes.

The midfielder was among the top three players on nine occasions, with best-on-ground honours in Rounds 3, 4 and 20.

Higgins’ effort is all the more impressive, when you consider he played just 17 games for the season, and was injured early in the Round 12 clash against the Suns.

His previous best was 15 votes, in 2018.

Ben Cunnington polled 10 votes, his third consecutive season in double figures, with top honours in Round 11 against Richmond and Round 15 against Collingwood, two of the Roos’ best wins of 2019.

The skipper Jack Ziebell was also recognised for his strong season, with his 35 disposals and 8 tackles against Sydney in Round 9, and 28 possessions and 2 goals in his 200th game, in Round 12, earning the top votes.

He finished the season with 10 votes, ahead of Ben Brown on eight, emerging star Cameron Zurhaar with six, and Todd Goldstein and Jared Polec on 5.
