The stripping of Essendon’s finals' place on Tuesday evening opened the door for as many as five teams to play in September.

It’s hard to fathom but even in 11th place, North is still a chance to play finals.

For the Roos to make it, the following must happen:

- Carlton (v Port Adelaide) and Brisbane (v Geelong) lose this week.

AND

- North beats Collingwood.

While the above scenario would see the Kangaroos equal for points with the Blues and Lions, a far superior percentage (120.2) would make the finals a lock.

Remarkably, even the Eagles in 13th place, are still in with a chance but would need everything to fall their way. They play the Crows (currently in 12th) and would need all four sides above them to lose, as well as making up roughly 100-points in percentage.
