How Thompson finished the season

Thompson continued his fine form in the second half of the year, regularly neutralising the opposition’s number one key forward.

With the ball in hand the number 16 also settled into a nice groove, consistently amassing around the 20-possession mark. His handball efficiency, leading all North players, proved a damaging tool in initiating rebound 50’s.

A lung injury suffered in a heavy fall against Adelaide prematurely ended Thompson’s season, but nevertheless he earned a deserving place in the All-Australian team for 2013.

He’s one of the favourites to take out this year’s Syd Barker Medal.
