Hansen continued on with his excellent form of 2013 as one of the best intercept defenders in the AFL.
His 17 marks against Gold Coast in Round 7 was a career-high and he cemented himself as an integral part of the best 22.
Reaching his 100-game milestone during the season, it appeared Hansen was set for the most consistent year of his career, until a troublesome hip injury halted his momentum.
After playing 17 of the first 18 games, Hansen missed the next three games with injury.
Returning for the last game of the home and away season, he looked to be over the worst of the problems. But after chasing an opponent, he pulled up sore and it was later confirmed he had aggravated the injury.
Although he continued his rehab with an aim to return in the finals, the defender was unable to play another game for the season.
