ET: Tests for Giants trio
Phil Davis, Rhys Palmer and Dean Brogan are all in contention to return this Sunday.
Speaking to the club’s website, head of sports science John Quinn explained Palmer is the most likely of the trio.
“He (Palmer) had an inflammation around the toe joint and at first the medicos considered it might even be gout,” Quinn said.
“The tests have come back negative…and it’s certainly settled down. It still looks a little bit angry so he’s certainly a chance but it depends on the next 48 hours. We’re very optimistic he’ll be OK.”
Co-captain Davis has been missing since Round 5 due to a back injury but close to making his comeback. Whether it comes at AFL level is yet to be decided.
“He’s a chance to return but I don’t know whether the coaches will bring him back through the AFL,” Quinn said.
“In my opinion it’ll come via the NEAFL.”
Brogan would also be a handy inclusion to assist Jonathon Giles in the ruck after missing the last match.
