Gun AFLW recruit Emma Kearney says she first started considering a move to Arden St. immediately after North was granted a licence into the competition.

The former Bulldog midfielder announced her decision to join the Roos after winning a premiership, the league's best and fairest, club best and fairest and AFLCA MVP award.

"So I started having conversations with them at the start of AFLW — the start of this season," she said on AFL360.

"So pretty much when they got a licence I sort of started having conversations."

The 28-year-old doesn't shy away from the boldness of the move and expects others to follow suit in the coming weeks.

"It’s been interesting but I think for me, I’ve started something that hopefully other players will slowly move into different clubs. I mean, we’ve got two new teams coming into the competition next year so there has to be player movement and I’m happy to be the first one to go."

Kearney's history with North goes as far back as 2010 with her VFLW club, Melbourne University, partnering with the Kangaroos in 2010.

"Laura Kane is president of Melbourne Uni, who I play VFL with, so I’ve got quite a good affiliation with North and quite good connections."

But regardless of who she's representing, Kearney says she always gives her all.

"I guess I’m a pretty competitive person so whatever colours I’m wearing I’m going to put in 100 per cent," she said.

"But yeah, it would be fair to say that I had some inclinations that I was probably going to move to North."
