North Melbourne’s last meeting with Brisbane was dominated by Majak Daw’s debut.

Daw stole all the headlines for his strong start as he marked and goaled within the first minutes of the game to bring the strong North contingent at Etihad Stadium to its feet.

With North looking for its first win of the season, the Daw-inspired start provided the perfect platform for a significant 32-point lead at quarter time.

However the star of the early show didn’t feature past the first 20 minutes of the game. A sling tackle from Daniel Merrett led to an out-of-control Daw hitting heads with Ben Cunnington.

While Cunnington came out unscathed, Daw was ruled out of the game with concussion, bringing a premature end to a promising debut.

Unlike previous weeks, there was no opposition comeback. Scott Thompson played one of the best games of his career on Jonathan Brown. He held the key-forward goalless while kicking one of his own and collected 25 disposals.

It was arguably the first glimpse of the superb 2013 Thompson has put together to this point. The defender has gone held multiple opponents goalless in a potential All-Australian season.

Elsewhere, Lindsay Thomas and Pearce Hanley had a running battle all day. Thomas kicked four goals and Hanley ended with a one-week suspension for striking Thomas behind the play.

Currently serving a suspension of his own, Thomas will miss playing against the Lions for the second time in the last three matches between the sides.
