North Melbourne has added more firepower to its midfield with former pick 3, Dom Tyson, crossing to the club from Melbourne.

The 25-year-old played 17 games in 2018, including three finals, and has been traded to Arden St in exchange for Braydon Preuss and a third round pick 62.

“Dom is a proven ball winner who averages 22 disposals a game and his clearance work is a real strength,” North GM football Cameron Joyce told North Media.

“We’re really happy to be adding a player of his calibre to our club.”

Tyson was originally drafted by the Greater Western Sydney Giants in 2011 and was then traded to the Demons two seasons later in 2013 for picks 2, 20 & 72.

He has played 107 games and ran 2nd in Melbourne’s best and fairest count in 2014 and came 4th in 2016.

Preuss moves to Melbourne after requesting a trade, following eight career games in the royal blue and white stripes - all in 2017.

“Braydon had two-years to run on his contract but asked for the opportunity to be released to go to another club,” Joyce said.

“We’ve elected to grant him that wish to seek more opportunities at senior level with Melbourne.”

Preuss joined North via the rookie draft in 2015 when he was selected with pick 15.

“We wish him all the best with his new club,” Joyce added.

News of Tyson’s move follows North’s trade for Port Adelaide running machine Jared Polec and skilful defender Jasper Pittard.
