Hogan deal on hold
Fremantle and Melbourne have reached an impasse in talks regarding key forward Jesse Hogan, according to reports from NAB AFL Trade Radio's Sam McClure. The Demons were said to have rejected the Dockers' first offer for Hogan on Thursday, which included pick No.11 and a future second-round draft selection. They are instead believed to want at least two first-round picks. The report stated that Fremantle is trying to get Hogan "cheap", with the deal now "in danger of falling apart" unless the Dockers improve their bid. Fremantle currently holds picks 11, 23, 30 and 49 at the NAB AFL Draft.
Port not budging on Chad offer
Port Adelaide is refusing to entertain Hawthorn's enticing first offer for wantaway forward Chad Wingard, according to reports from Nine News Adelaide. It was reported on AFL.com.au on Thursday night that the Hawks had put star young defender Ryan Burton on the table in an effort to secure a deal for Wingard. However, reports out of South Australia later in the evening stated that the Power will reject that initial bid, which also includes the Hawks' pick No.15. Wingard ended speculation regarding his future earlier in the day, nominating Hawthorn as his preferred club over the Western Bulldogs as he seeks a move to Victoria. The two-time All Australian has played 147 games for Port Adelaide, kicking 232 goals.
Crows follow the lead of their crosstown rivals
Adelaide is set to follow the lead of Port Adelaide in attempting to trade up the draft order to secure the best South Australian talent possible, according to Nine News Adelaide. Just hours after Port Adelaide secured a deal with Fremantle that saw it emerge with pick No.6, reports stated Adelaide was meeting with Brisbane to negotiate a similar trade. The Lions currently hold pick No.5, a selection the Crows might want in order to draft talented local prospects like Jack Lukosius, Izak Rankine or Connor Rozee this November. Adelaide is currently in possession of picks 8, 13, 16 and 21, putting the Crows in the perfect position to bundle at least two of those selections and move up the draft order.
