Clawing their way back
Several North-listed players will be looking to turn up the heat this week in the VFL for Werribee, with potential AFL recalls looming.
Not named in the North Melbourne squad to play against the Eagles on Sunday,
Nathan Grima is one of those who’ll be out to up the ante playing in his fourth consecutive game. The defender is coming off a pre-season knee injury and will continue to build his match fitness further in order to break his way back in to the Kangaroos’ side. Regarded as one of North’s most reliable players when fit, the 26-year old has averaged 17 disposals and five marks throughout his 42-game career.
Lachlan Hansen has been named in defence against Coburg, despite having kicked seven goals from four matches.
Ben McKinley and the in-form Ben Warren will be the main avenues to goal, while Majak Daw is also sure to spend time in attack.
It’s yet to be seen where Ayden Kennedy will line up in just his second senior VFL match after being named on the bench.
Werribee is eighth on the ladder with just two wins so far in 2012, but will be looking to take down the sixth-placed Coburg Tigers.
