North Melbourne and RAMS Home Loans have attempted to brighten the day for children living with cancer after making yet another sizeable donation to the club’s aligned charity, the My Room Children’s Cancer Centre.

When North chief executive Eugene Arocca visited the centre in 2010, he was moved to tears and the overwhelming experience prompted him to commit to supporting the push to raise much needed funds for the facility.

On Thursday, Arocca revisited the centre and presented a cheque for $15,000 to My Room Chairman James Roche and Senior Oncologist Dr Keith Waters.

“We have had a strong affiliation with My Room over the past year and we are committed to extending our support, particularly through fundraising efforts associated with the club’s Friday night home game against Carlton in Round 19,” Arocca said.

My Room Chairman James Roche said, “We are truly appreciative of North Melbourne’s continued support of My Room. This donation will directly support the work of the Children’s Cancer Centre and its research.”

My Room is a registered charity, which was established in 1993 to support the Children's Cancer Centre at the Royal Children's Hospital. My Room was formed through three families who had children undergoing chemotherapy and wanted to support the Oncology Unit at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne, Australia.

Several Melbourne-based RAMS franchises supported the donation which was raised through the ‘Aussie Rock on Arden’ concert held in March.

“We would like to recognise RAMS’ franchise owners Elio, David, Bill and Stan for coming on board as major sponsors of the concert which allowed us to make this special donation possible,” Arocca said.

RAMS Eastern Region (03) 9809 5111, RAMS Inner Western Region (03) 9370 7267, RAMS Alphington 9482 4111 and RAMS North-West (03) 9326 0677 supported the donation.
