Carlton is making an aggressive play to lure out-of-contract Adelaide midfielder Sam Kerridge home to Victoria.
Kerridge played just one game this season but the promising form he showed in 25 games across 2013-14 has attracted the interest of several clubs, with Carlton believed to be leading the chase.
Although Kerridge is on holidays and yet to make a final decision on his future, it is believed the Blues are preparing to table an offer for the 22-year-old, likely for three years.
It is unclear what Carlton would offer the Crows as a trade for Kerridge, but it holds picks No.1, 20, 38, 56 and 74 in this year's NAB AFL Draft.
It is highly unlikely that the Blues would offer Adelaide anything earlier than their third-round pick.
Kerridge loomed as an exciting young talent when he broke into the Crows' team in his second season, 2013, and played 11 games.
He was nominated for that year's NAB AFL Rising Star award after starring with 24 possessions and six goals in Adelaide's thrilling one-point win over North Melbourne in round nine.
Kerridge followed that up with a solid 2014 season, playing 14 games and stepping up as a run-with midfielder in Nathan van Berlo's absence.
But an early-season hamstring injury and Adelaide's midfield depth limited him to a sole senior appearance in 2015, in round eight against Greater Western Sydney.
In 12 SANFL games this year, the former Bendigo Pioneer was named in the Adelaide reserves team's best players six times.
The Crows selected Kerridge with pick No.27 in the 2011 NAB AFL Draft.
Since making his AFL debut in round three, 2012, Kerridge has played 27 games and kicked 23 goals.
