North Melbourne will create history when it plays a Friday night game in Hobart in 2016.
The club's managing Director & CEO Carl Dilena says Tasmanian fans will be able to experience prime-time footy for themselves for the first time, as the Roos take on Richmond at Blundstone Arena on Friday, June 3.
“It’s going to be a history making season in Tasmania, with the first ever Friday night game of footy in Hobart in Round 11 against the Tigers,” Mr Dilena said.
“We’re expecting a big crowd to attend this match and know it’s an exciting prospect for fans in Tasmania to secure this prime-time slot with a TV audience across Australian tuning in.
The Roos will again play three games at Blundstone Arena, with Melbourne (Round 3), Richmond and Sydney (Round 22) all headed to the country’s southern most capital.
“Taking on two traditional Victorian teams, in Melbourne and Richmond, as well as a flag favourite in Sydney, means there are some blockbuster games coming to Hobart again in 2016.
“We had a record number of members in Tasmania in 2015, with more than 5,000 signing up and hope we can again break another record next season.”
