The 31-year-old underwent surgery on his left hamstring three weeks ago, and has taken positive steps towards a return.
"For my case it (surgery) was a more certain outcome. We knew if we got the tendon re-sewn, my recovery would be a little more inconsistent and there’s probably less chance of redoing it (the hamstring)," he told Triple M’s Rush Hour program.

Dal Santo was a welcome sight on the training track earlier in the week.
"I had a really good run yesterday (Wednesday). It felt really good," he said.
"That was my fifth run, so I’m just slowly building up and was really happy with the way I went.
"As long as things keep progressing I’d like to think I can join back in training with the boys in the next couple of weeks, and then we’ll just see how it goes from there."

"I’ve played 287 and I think I’ve missed maybe a total of eight in my career," Dal Santo said.
The former Saint said he can’t wait to get back.
"I’m a shocking spectator … having no control over the game and sitting there watching.
"I can understand why coaches get frustrated, you can understand why supporters look at you; it just looks so easy, and when you are out there the fatigue, the decision-making, the speed of the game, it’s hard to get a grasp of."
