For emerging stars coming into the AFL system, there's no way of escaping the attention and excitement that comes around the National Draft.
While the drafts of the late 80's were considered somewhat of a lottery as recruiting zones were still the norm, these days the country's best youngsters cannot be missed. Their games are on television, profiles online and media experts predicting which club they'll end up at. Interest is at an all-time high.
So while snaps of Brent Harvey and Michael Firrito from their junior days are hard to find, in the modern era recruits arrive at their new clubs as almost a familiar face.
This week on NMFC.com.au, we look back at some of the more memorable draftees to arrive at Arden Street in recent years.
While age and experience might have saved Harvey and Firrito, Drew Petrie isn't so lucky ... this photo was featured on North Ballarat's website recently.
