Young forward Kayne Turner says he is feeling good and is ready for finals action, despite a heavy hit in Friday night’s loss to the Tigers.
Turner was taken from the ground on a stretcher in the final term at Etihad Stadium, but is confident he can put his hand up to play as the Roos embark on another finals campaign.
He will however be reliant on the all clear from North’s medical staff.
“I feel good today, obviously I’ve been through a few tests with the doctors and physios post-match and again the day after, as well as Monday,” Turner told NMFC.com.au.
“There wasn’t too many headaches, I didn’t feel ill or anything.
“Obviously I’d love to play, it’s a big final. The doctors have to do what’s right for me and I understand that.”
Turner trained with the group on Monday and Tuesday and is now looking to cause headaches of his own for the club’s selectors.
“Ultimately it comes down to the doctors’ call and their decision and I’ll have to respect that.”
The number 40 said he didn’t believe he needed to change the way he attacked the footy, describing the blow as accidental.
“After watching it, I probably wouldn’t do much different to be honest. It’s just one of those unlucky incidents that happens in footy these days.”
Turner has played in 11 games this season and said he's pleased he was able to make the most of his opportunity on Friday night, booting three goals.
Now, his focus is on winning a spot in the Roos' finals side.
“After finishing the finals in a disappointing way last year, I think all the boys here are really excited to get another shot at it again this year. It will be a real big step up again... but I think we’ve got what it takes - we’ve got the sort of players and leaders to do it for us.”
North Melbourne will hold an open training session this Saturday (September 12, 2015) at Arden Street from 11.15am-12.00pm.
