North Melbourne's playing group will donate $10,000 to the Good Friday Appeal.

With the Roos to make history in just two days in the first ever Good Friday match, the players felt it was only appropriate to make the donation through the AFL Players Association (AFLPA) Players Care program.

“Every game we play we donate money to go to charity,” North defender Jamie Macmillan said.

“Obviously with the added significance of playing on Good Friday, we decided to donate all $10,000 to the Appeal this year.”

Macmillan said the entire playing group was excited about the inaugural match at Etihad Stadium.

“It’s exciting, we’re looking forward to it and Friday can’t come quick enough.”

AFLPA CEO Paul Marsh told NMFC.com.au the Good Friday Appeal was a worthy cause for the donation.

“The AFL Players Care program gives players the opportunity to support causes and charities they’re passionate about,” Marsh said.

“In this case, North Melbourne’s players, led by Jamie Macmillan and Andrew Swallow, have shown great enthusiasm for the Good Friday Appeal.

“With North Melbourne playing in the inaugural Good Friday match, it’s a great fit and a charity the players can establish a connection with.”
