Several key North Melbourne players will be given until the very last minute to prove their fitness for the upcoming match against Hawthorn.

Jack Ziebell and Scott Thompson didn't suit up against the Bombers and all indications are they're not walk-up starts this week.  Roos' director of medical services Steve Saunders says he's keen to put them through a few more tests before declaring them fit to play.

"We will be having a very close look at both those boys this week.  Jack was close to playing last week but we decided to hold him back," he told NMFC.com.au.

Nathan Grima was on a high during the game after kicking his first career goal, but an injured foot has brought him back to earth with a thud.

"He was obviously a bit sore during the game and we looked to sub him off.  He was able to get through and we just have to see how he pulls up over the next few days."

The man who was actually subbed, Leigh Adams, will be hoping his knee settles before the Saturday afternoon match.

"He's another one we have to monitor and test, so there are a few concerns there but we're hoping they'll all be right to play."

Meanwhile Cam Delaney (toe/knee) and Majak Daw (knee) have had successful operations and are on the mend.
