When it comes to the all-time greats at North Melbourne, Brent Harvey is well and truly in the top echelon.
With countless accolades and on the path to becoming the games’ record holder in the VFL-AFL, Harvey is still going strong.
On Friday night, the 38-year-old added another award to his long list of achievements, and that one that he’s sure to hold dear.
Joining the likes of Wayne Carey, Wayne Schimmelbusch, Malcolm Blight and Allen Aylett, Harvey was named the Shinboner of the Era at the club’s A Celebration of Shinboner Spirit event.
Covering the years 2005-2015, the Shinboner of the Era was voted on by a committee of key officials at the club, as well as North Melbourne members via the club’s website.
Harvey was a clear standout, receiving a remarkable 42 per cent of the total vote.
It’s not just his on-field achievements that make ‘Boomer’ unique though.
The little champion has set a remarkable standard at training since being drafted back in 1995, been an amazing example with his work in the community, and been a role model for North fans for 21 seasons.
Like fellow nominees Drew Petrie, Michael Firrito, Brady Rawlings and Andrew Swallow, Harvey will go down in history as one of the great Shinboners.
