AFL Fantasy is back for another year, and the team at Footy Prophet will again be supplying NMFC.com.au with premium fantasy analysis and tips for the 2016 season.

North Melbourne continued its undefeated streak on Saturday afternoon, surviving a late surge from the Bombers to walk away winners by 14 points.

With an AFL Fantasy average of 74 across the board, it was an above average performance by the club, although 46.05 per cent of coaches missed the injured Daniel Wells.

Sam Gibson was the star this week with 149 points thanks to 36 disposals and 15 marks.

Here’s this week’s Footy Prophet’s Fantasy Five, with a focus on some mid-priced prospects.

1. Todd Goldstein ($533,000, RUC)

Goldstein was the next best scorer for North behind Gibson with 109 points which included 79 in the first half.

The ruckman had a quieter second half, but still finished with a strong score which any Fantasy coach would be happy with.

Goldstein continues to be the one player you can count on to perform most weeks.

2. Andrew Swallow ($450,000, MID)

Swallow was the only other Kangaroo to score 100 this week, continuing his recent good form.

The captain has averaged 99 points in the past three games, showing he can be a credible midfield option.

3. Jarrad Waite ($486,000, FWD)

After a quieter Round 7, Waite bounced back with a solid score of 96 against Essendon.

Many people are still rather hesitant when it comes to Waite’s fantasy value and saw last week as a chance to jump off him, but the forward bounced back superbly.

It’s hard to question an eight-round average of 100 points.

4. Majak Daw ($277,000, RUC/FWD)

Daw played his first game for the year and while he’s never really appeared to be a fantasy-relevant player, he put together an impressive 85 on the weekend.

With 14 disposals, two goals and five marks, he showed that the potential is there for him to be a decent fantasy player.

It’s probably worth waiting a few weeks and seeing if he can repeat this level of scoring before considering him.

5. Brad McKenzie ($274,000, MID)

McKenzie also played his first game for the season, scoring 73 points including an impressive 50-point first half.

His price is probably a bit too high to consider him as a downgrade option which means he’s going to need to produce a lot more 50-point halves to be considered for fantasy teams.
