At the end of each season, there is the obligatory discussion about who could take “Charlie” home. Footy fans stretch their memories back to games played several months prior in an effort to identify their club’s best chance at winning the coveted award.
This year NMFC.com.au is asking for your help to determine the three best players from each game and you can vote in the Mazda Spirit Awards for your best three Kangaroos.

A tight, defensive encounter also had moments of brilliance from several Roos to have them in the running for Brownlow votes.
Here is the case for each of the players in the running for the votes, in alphabetical order. We’ll pick our 3-2-1, then you can have your say.
Matthew Boyd – Bulldogs
The veteran relished the extra responsibility given to him in the absence of fellow half-backs Robert Murphy, Jason Johanissen and Matt Suckling.
33 disposals included seven rebound 50’s, equalling a team-high.
Lachie Hunter – Bulldogs
Hunter had a game-high 44 disposals, with 16 of them contested. The Bulldog contributed in almost every facet of the game, from rebound 50’s (6) to inside 50’s (4) to clearances (4).
Andrew Swallow – NMFC
The skipper was a terror at the contest. He had 14 tackles, 14 contested possessions and eight clearances in 76 per cent game time to back up his quality game on the Gold Coast in Round 5.
Scott Thompson – NMFC
Handled the important task of quelling Jake Stringer, the North defender delivered in spades.
Thompson held the Bulldog goalless while also collecting 26 disposals of his own. His nine marks were a game-high, also collecting five rebound 50’s to help North rebound well.
Jarrad Waite – NMFC
Only one player managed to kick multiple goals, and that was Waite. His four majors were crucial, none more so than his last – slotted after his contested mark in the middle of three Bulldogs’ defenders.
Daniel Wells – NMFC
Wells provided a touch of class in a contested game, always looking like he had a second more time than anyone else on the ground. He finished with 27 disposals (16 contested) and five clearances.
