Brent Harvey says North Melbourne will only get better as the season goes on.

After three straight wins to start the season, Harvey, who kicked a personal best of six goals on the weekend, said there was still plenty of work to do at Arden St.

“In the past we’ve been known to drop those games,” he told NMFC.com.au.

“So to start the season three and zip and still not playing our best footy is a massive upside for us because I still think we have a lot of improvement (to come).”

Harvey’s bag of six helped ensure North remained undefeated and the 37-year-old couldn’t have been happier.

“Six goals, it’s nice. First time I’ve done it in the career,” he said.

“I’m more pleased and relieved about the win clearly. Today was a slog, we kicked a lot of goals early and they came back. It was a weird old game.”

Harvey last booted five goals 18 years ago, and his six goals on Sunday took him up to fourth on the AFL goal-kicking tally for 2016.

“I thought I was due a six. My big mate Drewy looked after me and gave me the ‘Joe the goose’.

“Goals are so hard to come by, I’m taking those easy ones too, so I’ll buy Drew a beer.”

The strong breeze at Blundstone Arena saw most of the play in one end of the ground, with North kicking the first seven goals of the clash.

Harvey said the wind was hard to gauge from the outset.

“When we went out and did the warm up, I thought it was only going to be a one or two goal breeze. It was a huge advantage to kick down to that end.”

He likened the victory to the club’s 2015’s dramatic win over the Eagles, where North also kicked against the breeze in the final quarter in gale-force conditions.

“We did it against West Coast last year here, so to come out this week, you’ve got enormous confidence in your teammates to get the job done and we got it done again today.”
