Jed Anderson will look to repay the faith shown on him by his new club when he lines up against the Crows.
The former Hawk, who arrived at Arden Street during last year’s exchange period will play his first AFL game since round four, 2015.
“I was rapt to get the call-up from the coach (Brad Scott) and put my hand up to play tomorrow night against Adelaide,” Anderson told NMFC.com.au on Friday.
“I’m ready and excited to get out there and play with a new team.”
Injury and illness halted Anderson’s progress at Hawthorn over the past two years, but he’s enjoyed an impressive introduction at North Melbourne.
“I think coming to a new team you want to prove yourself,” he said.
“It’s been a long road and I guess putting in the hard yards during the pre-season and getting the body right before the season … that’s the biggest thing.
“I’ve put myself in that position. I’ve had a good off-season and my body’s fit and ready to play.
“Hopefully I can build up to a few games and go from there.”
Anderson said he’s had no troubles transitioning to his new surroundings.
“The boys have been exceptional to me … coming over to Utah and having the pre-season that I’ve had, the boys have been wonderful from day one.
“I can’t wait to get out there with them and play some good footy with them.”
The message from the coaches a simple one heading into his first game in the royal blue and white.
“Just play my natural game; pressure the ball carrier, play the forward half and be dangerous up there,” Anderson added.
“I’ll go through the middle and just play my role and do well for the team.”
