North Melbourne will travel to the Gabba to face a rapidly changing Brisbane outfit.

The Lions’ new look was on show against West Coast, with four players making their debut for the club.

Three of them – Josh Walker, Tom Bell and former Roo Ryan Bastinac all arrived in last year’s Trade Period. However, the one debutant from the 2015 National Draft turned the most heads.

Josh Schache, the number two draft selection, showed more than a few glimpses of what made him so highly rated. Two goals from nine disposals and five marks the start of what could be a long and fruitful career in the AFL.

Brisbane will also welcome back one of its key contributors on Saturday, with Dayne Zorko set to return after a suspension incurred in the NAB Challenge.

Zorko will strengthen a smaller brigade and midfield missing Dayne Beams for at least the first half of the season; the ex-Pie suffering from knee tendinitis.

The Lions’ score of 102 against the Eagles was more than they managed in all but two games last season.

A renewed emphasis on a run-and-carry style will lead to more high-scoring encounters. It would be an area for North Melbourne to be wary of, considering the Lions only managed a total of 89 points combined in the two meetings last season.

Allen Christensen, Lewis Taylor, Daniel Rich and Tom Rockliff combined for 10 goals in Perth. The new interchange rotations meant more time forward, providing unique matchup challenges.

A victory for North Melbourne will take it to 2-0 for the first time since 2005.
