Ben Jacobs’ recovery from surgery has him feeling a major sense of déjà vu.

After battling a foot injury throughout the season, the fifth metatarsal broke during the clash against Essendon, consigning the midfielder to a long rehab.

“There’s a few lonely times (in rehab) and I had that in pre-season, so it’s a bit like groundhog day for me,” Jacobs told NMFC.com.au.

“I’ve got Shaun Higgins on the same kind of timeframe I am, so we’ll team up and make a push together.”

The goal for Jacobs had been to nurse the sore foot from week to week, but plans had to change.

“I was managing it during the week. The physios and fitness staff were great, they were able to get me up for each game.

“It was just too much, and once we found the crack we had to do something about it.”

Thankfully, Jacobs’ surgery was a quick process to set him on the road to recovery.

“I was in and out (of the surgery) quite quickly.

“Steve Saunders was very happy with it, and so am I, so I’m on the mend.”

All things going to plan, the 24-year-old is looking ahead to what could happen on his return to fitness.

“I should be able to get a good dose (of football) in before finals, and if anything hopefully come in fresh for finals, feeling fit."
